  • What are the benefits of preplanning my funeral?

There are numerous benefits to planning, some of which include:

    • Provides peace of mind
    • Relieves your loved ones of unnecessary concern
    • Reflects your expressed wishes
    • Alleviates financial burden on your family.

Giving a preplan to those you love gives your family peace of mind and relieves them of the emotional and financial burden that can come when there is not a plan in place. A prearranged funeral plan will allow your family to have a more positive grief experience, since they do not have to focus on the logistics of funeral planning, nor do they have to make these difficult decisions for you when the time comes.

  • How many Certified Death Certifiacate will I need?

Many families ask how many certified copies of the death certificate they will need. While every situation is different, ordering multiple copies at the time of arrangements can help prevent delays and additional fees later.

You may need certified death certificates for:

    • Life insurance claims
    • Social Security and pension benefits
    • Bank accounts and financial institutions
    • Retirement accounts (401(k), IRA, etc.)
    • Real estate or property transfers
    • Vehicle title changes
    • Probate and estate settlement

As a general guideline, families often order 5–10 certified copies, depending on the number of financial accounts and legal matters involved.

Our funeral directors are happy to help you determine an appropriate number based on your specific needs. Additional certified copies can be ordered later if needed, though fees may vary by state.

  • Who writes the Website Obituary?

On our website, an obituary has no character limit. It typically begins with the person’s full name, including any nickname or maiden name, and then moves into family information—both surviving and preceded in death. It may also highlight achievements, memberships or organizations supported, hobbies, and other meaningful details. The goal is to paint a picture of the person who has passed and honor their life.

During arrangements, the funeral director listens carefully to every detail the family shares about their loved one. This attention allows us to craft a meaningful and lasting tribute that reflects the life, values, and personality of the person being remembered.

We do find that families sometimes choose to write their own obituary. The information below may help assist families who want to create their own.

At Baue, we are honored to help families celebrate the lives of their loved ones.

    Obituary Outline

    • Full Name – Include nickname and maiden name if applicable.
    • Date of Birth and Death – Basic vital information.

  • Who puts the obituary in the newspaper?

Typically, the family of the deceased or the funeral home handling the arrangements submits the obituary to the newspaper. At Baue, our funeral directors can assist families by preparing the obituary for submission and sending it to the newspaper on their behalf, ensuring all details are accurate and formatted correctly.
