Woodrow "Woody" Morris, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026. He was born on December 11, 1943, in Troy, Mo., to Samuel and Frances Lorene Morris.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, LaVern (Morris) Merk.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan (Boschert) Morris, with whom he shared nearly 56 wonderful years of marriage. As well as his sister, Barbara Scharnhorst, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Woody and Joan were married on July 18, 1970, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Together they built a life filled with treasured memories, enduring friendships, and deep love for one another.
A graduate of Francis Howell High School, Class of 1961, Woody proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The friendships he formed during his military service remained important to him throughout his life, and he stayed in touch with several of his fellow servicemen for many years. His time in Albuquerque left a lasting impression on him, and he often returned to the city he loved, especially to attend the International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, one of his favorite traditions.
Following his military service, Woody dedicated 35 years of service to ACF Industries. Throughout his career, he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to those he worked alongside. He retired from ACF as Supervisor of Office Services, a position he held with pride and professionalism.
Although Woody and Joan did not have children of their own, he embraced his role as uncle with his whole heart. He loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own, celebrating their accomplishments, offering guidance and support, and creating memories that will be cherished forever. His love for family extended far beyond titles, and he was a constant presence in the lives of those he cared about.
Woody enjoyed many things in life, especially cars, music, and travel. His love of automobiles was well known, and friends and family always looked forward to seeing what personalized license plate would appear on his latest vehicle. Whether discussing cars, planning a trip, listening to music, or spending time with loved ones, Woody approached life with enthusiasm and appreciation.
Perhaps what people will remember most was his sense of humor. Woody had a quick wit, a warm smile, and an easygoing personality that made people feel comfortable in his presence. He loved to laugh and enjoyed making others laugh, often brightening a room with a joke, a story, or a clever remark. His kindness, generosity, and ability to connect with people left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Those who knew Woody will remember him as a loving husband, proud veteran, devoted uncle, loyal friend, and genuinely good man. His legacy is one of love, laughter, loyalty, and the countless ways he enriched the lives of those around him. While he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
