Wilma "Gail" Wilson

June 21, 1932 — September 8, 2024

St. Charles, Missouri

Wilma “Gail” Wilson (nee Smith), of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of 59 years to the late Ted Wilson; cherished daughter of the late Clay and Flossie Smith; devoted mother of Mark Wilson, Susan (Jeff) Higgins and David Wilson; loving grandmother of Joseph (Jessica) Higgins, Caitlin (Chris) Coan, Jim (Allison) Higgins, Emma Wilson and Thomas Wilson; treasured great-grandmother of Grant Coan, William Higgins, Theo Higgins and Nora Coan; dear sister of the late William Smith and the late Betty Sue Smith.

Gail was married for 59 years to her devoted husband, Ted. Their life together was marked by a deep commitment to family. Among their many adventures, their trip to France was a highlight they both treasured.

Gail and Ted built their lives around their family, nurturing their children and creating a warm, traditional household. Gail’s passion for knitting was well-known; she created beautiful afghans for a church group and for all of the babies of friends & family, spreading warmth and comfort to those in need. Her love for reading led her back to school in the early 1980s, where she earned her associate’s degree. This academic pursuit paved the way for a fulfilling 23-year career as a librarian aide with the Ferguson Florissant School District.

In her free time, Gail delighted in enjoying scenic views, cooking, baking, and sewing. Her banana bread was a particular favorite among family and friends, a testament to her love for baking.

Gail will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her dedication to family, and her many contributions to her community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Wilma's name to Ready Readers or Church of the Shepherd
