William R. “Bill” Luikaart Jr.

November 25, 1945 — January 5, 2018

William R. “Bill” Luikaart, a longtime resident of Lake Saint Louis, MO, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018, at the age of 72.  Loving husband of 49 years to Carol "Nicki" Luikaart; beloved son of the late William R. Sr. and Lucille Luikaart; devoted father of Reed (Stacey) Luikaart and Jill (Nathan) Smith; cherished grandfather of Lilly Smith, Cody Cummings, and Caleb Cummings; dearest brother of Nancy Luikaart; and dear uncle of Alex Florkowski.

Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He received a bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt University Chicago.  He retired after more than 30 years in the sales industry, where he worked for Hunt Brothers Pizza, Bic Pens, and owned a Mrs. Field’s Cookies store.

Bill was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and he never missed a game.  He enjoyed fishing, playing Poker with his buddies, and working in the yard.  He was always happy and liked whistling as he went about his day.  He was fond of cigars he purchased in Phoenix, AZ, so much so that he was on a first name basis with his salesman.  As a staunch republican, he enjoyed watching Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity.

Bill will be remembered most as a family man.  He was the best father in the world, and an amazing grandfather, and he always put others before himself.  He and his family enjoyed traveling and taking river trips up the Mississippi to Hannibal.  Christmas was Bill’s favorite time of the year with his family, and his collection of Department 56 Christmas decorations filled their home with love.  He was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evelyn's House in Creve Coeur.
