Walter Hagan

Walter A. Hagan, of St. Peters, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the age of 87. Loving husband of 58 years to (the late) Diana Hagan; beloved son of the late Albion and Doris Hagan; devoted father of Christopher Hagan (Deborah) and Sean (Pamela) Hagan; cherished grandfather of Angela (Vince) Valli, Jennica Hagan, Christina Hagan, and Timothy Hagan; treasured great grandfather of eight; and dear brother of Russell (Pat) Hagan, Patricia Hagan. He was preceded in death by his son Gerald Hagan.

Walt dedicated many long years to building his own 23' sailboat which he completed in

1979. He and his wife Diana enjoyed owning the Armchair Adventurer on Droste road in St. Charles, which he bought for her because of Diana's love for books. In 1998 Walt and Diana sold their home in St. Charles and the bookstore and bought a fifth wheel trailer to seek adventures across the United States. Every place visited formed cherished memories and new friends. A favorite destination for his entire family was Thousand Hills State Park in Kirksville Missouri, where the family enjoyed fishing and boating for more than 24 years. Walt's love for art started with watching Bob Ross on TV. That love turned into many masterpieces of his art hanging in any available space on his walls.

Walt took many vacations with his son Sean and daughter-in-law Pam that created memories of a lifetime. His favorite was Hilton Head Island S.C where he loved to enjoy every sunrise with tranquil bliss, every grain of sand between his toes and every splash of saltwater on his feet. Walt's love of the water followed him every step of his long life. His passion for walking made him a friend with every step.

Walt was truly a blessing to all who knew him, his warmth and care for his friends made them feel very fortunate to have known him. He will be greatly missed by his family with every thought and memory they have. Thank you, Dad!

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for all Memorials to be made in Walt's name to the de Greeff Hospice house at Mercy Hospital South.
