Virginia Anne Prellwitz (nee Mikelson), of Maryland Heights, MO, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the age of 71. She was the beloved wife of Gary Allen Prellwitz, her high school sweetheart, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. Virginia was the cherished mother of Aaron (Chandra) Prellwitz, Micah (Mikele) Prellwitz, and Rachel (Jenn) Prellwitz; dear sister of John (Patricia) Mikelson, Thomas (Hortencia) Mikelson, and Paul (Jill) Mikelson; and loving sister-in-law to Diane (Jack) Prellwitz, Brenda (George) Tapia, and Dave Prellwitz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Ardys Mikelson, and her sister, Linda Mikelson.
Known for her kindness, laughter, and loving spirit, Virginia was deeply devoted to her faith and family. She loved spending time with loved ones, especially playing board games, traveling, and visiting the beach—where she found peace standing on the white sand with waves crashing at her feet. An avid reader, Virginia also had a gift for maintaining long-distance relationships and treasured meaningful connections. She was a talented baker, well-known for her chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, bundt cakes, and her abundance of Christmas cookies. Her favorite Bible verse, “This is the day the Lord has made; rejoice and be glad in it,” reflected the joy she brought to others. Virginia was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Virginia's name to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.
