Beloved wife of the late Frank Dragschutz; cherished daughter of the late Francis and Helen Queen; devoted mother of Carolyn Sanker, Rosemary (John) Peters and Dyann (the late Gary) Kramer; loving grandmother of Lenny (Amy) Sanker, Danielle (Kyle) Ayo, Jason (Mandy) Peters and Robert Kramer; treasured great-grandmother of Brecklyn Peters, Brennan Ayo and Brenley Ayo; Virginia is preceded in death by her son; Robert W. Dragschutz; siblings, Dorothy Hastings, Patricia Ann Mullen, Mack (Charlene survives) Queen and Francis Leroy Queen.

Virginia Dragschutz, a lifelong artist, educator, and advocate for the arts, passed away, leaving behind an enduring legacy in her community. For over 50 years, she created art that captured her life’s experiences, aiming to inspire others to see and feel the world through her eyes. Virginia’s passion for the arts took root in the 1970s when she became a founding member of the St. Charles County Arts Council. She was instrumental in developing its programs and initiatives, including "Arts Happening for Kids" at the St. Peters Cultural Arts Center, which she chaired for 14 years. Her leadership and dedication left a lasting mark on the region's arts culture.

Virginia was also a dedicated teacher, sharing her love of art with students ranging in age from infants to seniors. She taught privately and in community centers, including senior centers well into her 80s, bringing joy and skill to countless students over three decades. Her work with the Women’s Caucus for Art and her board role at the St. Charles Arts Council showcased her commitment to advocating for equity and recognition of women in the arts.

Even as she pursued her own studies later in life, amassing over 100 college credit hours after age 66, Virginia remained a lifelong learner and a beloved mentor. Known for her warmth, humor, and devotion, she leaves behind a community enriched by her spirit and dedication to art. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched through her art and teaching.
