Victor "Rex" Power

Aug 20, 1952 — Sep 13, 2026

Defiance, Missouri

Victor “Rex” Power, of Defiance, MO, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Louise Madeline Power; cherished son of the late Robert Waller and Lula Mildred Power; devoted father of Kirsteen Michelle (Bradley) James and Brandon Robert Power; loving grandfather of Madelyn Louise James, Katelyn Michelle James, Makenzie Ryan James, Reginald William (Cathy) Power and Henry John Power; dear brother of Rodney Huffman (Nanci) Power and the late Robert Reginald Power.

Rex retired after more than 25 years of dedicated service with MasterCard. During his college years, Rex was a proud member of the Central Missouri State University Hall of Fame Cross Country Team. He maintained close friendships with his teammates throughout the years, cherishing the bonds they formed during those memorable times.

Rex had a love for adventure and enjoyed taking bike trips across the state on the Katy Trail. He was passionate about traveling and exploring the world, whether on road trips, cruises with his family, or journeys to new places.

Music and singing held a special place in Rex’s heart. In 1981, he moved to California with one of his best friends, Cliff, with dreams of becoming a “Rock Star.” It was while living in California that Rex met the love of his life, his beloved wife of 46 years, Louise.

Rex loved to read and was also an avid baseball fan and proudly supported the New York Yankees. Rex especially enjoyed playing Strat-O-Matic Baseball the old-fashioned way, using cards, and could spend countless hours enjoying the game he loved.

Rex treasured lifelong friendships, especially those with his childhood friends from Mexico, Missouri, who affectionately called themselves “the Maulers.” These friendships remained an important part of his life through the years.

Rex will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his kindness, and his generosity.

Above all, Rex was deeply loved by his family and friends. His laughter, kindness, humor, and zest for life touched everyone who knew him. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he was fortunate enough to touch.

Memorials may be made in Victor's name to American Cancer Society or NPR St Louis Radio.
