Vernon James Meyer of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away surrounded by family. He lived a full and hardworking life defined by faith, service, and devotion to those he loved.
He grew up on a farm in Florissant, where he learned the value of responsibility and the simple joys of being outdoors. After graduating from Ranken Technical College, he proudly served his country as a veteran of the Korean War.
He went on to spend 45 years with McDonnell Douglas as a machinist and a model builder, creating wind-tunnel models for a wide range of aircraft including the F-4, F-15, and F/A-18. He was a dedicated mentor to young people especially for his family, he served as Assistant Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 355, investing his time and energy into building character and leadership in the next generation.
Outside of work, he enjoyed camping, deer hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening-especially growing tomatoes-and spending time outdoors. His steady presence, quiet humor, and love for simple traditions will be deeply missed.
He was a great problem solver. He could create a tool, gadget, or part to fix any problem. He would make toys out of wood for his grandchildren. He also made heirloom pieces like his beautiful carved ducks and doll furniture.
He is survived by his loving family, who are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind: a life marked by integrity, hard work, and a deep love for both family and country.
