Velma Marie Jesse (nee Bippen), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the age of 104. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Jesse; cherished daughter of the late George and Adele Bippen; devoted mother of Sharon (Michael) Scharr, Joyce (Greg) Mullett-Stewart, Gordon Jesse, Jr., Mark Jesse and Kevin (Sandra) Jesse; loving grandmother of Scott (Marla) Ballenger, Joel (Michael) Bracht, John Mullett, Erin Mullett, Paul (Samantha) Jesse, Ryan Jesse, Emily (Andrew) Morgan, Ciera (Drew) Patterson, Laura Jesse and Hunter Jesse; treasured great-grandmother of many; dear sister of Eileen Howard, Marcella Bruce, the late Earl Bippen, the late Mildred Hammack and the late Dorothy Lay. 

Velma proudly and honorably served in the United States Army during World War 2. She was a career military wife and the founding member of the first women’s service American Legion Post 404. Velma was very active in her community and did lots of volunteer work. Velma was the first woman inducted into the Missouri Veterans Hall of Fame. 

Velma was a lifelong bowler and enjoyed quilting and camping in her free time. In her later years she traveled in her motor home across the United States. Her greatest treasure was her time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

Velma was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Memorials may be made in Velma's name to American Legion Post 404 or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
