Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. Myers, Troy Emanuel, 87 (1921-2008), of Columbia, a former St. Charles County and Montgomery County resident, died January 17, 2008 at University Hospital. Mr. Myers was born January 7, 1921, in Newburg, MO, to Ralph and Bertha Smith Myers. In 1943 he married Roxa Bartlett. She preceded him in death, as did two sisters, one brother and one granddaughter. He is survived by sisters, Lena Loper and Pansy Luck, both of Rolla and by a son, Larry Myers and two grandsons, Raymond Myers and Kenneth Myers all of Columbia. One of the "greatest generation," he joined the Army during WWII, serving in Europe for almost four years. For more than three decades he was employed by McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis. Like many who came of age during that era, he rarely complained, but simply did what had to be done. Among the enduring pleasures of his life were gardening, which he continued to do into his early 80's and fishing -- with any catch, regardless of its size, deemed just find for deep-frying.
