Thomas (Tom) W. Towers passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026 at the age of 81. He was born in St. Charles, Missouri on May 26, 1944. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Orville W. Towers and Ruth (Beek) Towers, and siblings Richard and Sue Towers. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna M. (Wittenborn) Towers, his children Chad and Hally (Dean) Towers and Chuck and Samantha (Towers) Sutton, and his four grandchildren, Hannah and Maddie Towers, and Jack and Kate Sutton. Tom also touched the lives of countless friends and beloved nephews.
Tom was a graduate of St. Charles High School, Class of 1962 where he met Donna, her twin sister Diana and brother in law, Jay, along with countless friends. The Classes of 1962 and 1963 had a very special connection and to this day remain very close. Tom went on to graduate from college and then proudly served the United States Army from 1968-1970. Tom began his career in data processing at McDonnell Douglas, spent many years working at Citi Corp, and retired from St. Charles County personnel. Tom spent most of his best years with another very special group of friends playing golf and slow pitch softball, and gathering at St. Charles Lanes and Tubby’s. Tom also coached his children in youth football, basketball, baseball and softball.
Tom defined himself by his love and dedication to his family. He and his wife lived in the same town as his children and grandchildren and never missed an activity, game or event. Even in recent years when he physically struggled to get there in person, he streamed every game online. Tom could talk about sports for hours, loved country music, and was incredibly funny and witty. Those who knew him were familiar with his quick one-liners and unmatched sense of humor. Tom was happiest when his family was happy, and he never stopped thinking of ways to help them any way he could.
There will be a visitation at Baue Funeral Home (Jefferson Street) on March 21 from 12:30-3:00 with an immediate service to follow. An informal gathering at Tubby’s to begin at 4:30.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Charles Humane Society in honor of Tom
