Dr. Theodore Rummel
April 3, 1959 ~ November 1, 2026
In loving memory of Ted Rummel, who passed away on November 1, 2026. Ted brought an energy and joy of life to everyone who knew him.
Ted grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and shared a home with his mother, Dorothy, his grandfather, Theodore, and three brothers, Odes, Larry, and Robin. He attended Normandy High School and from there his life became an extraordinary journey.
Ted enlisted in the Army at age 17. His military career included basic training, jump school, Special Forces, and flight school, where he became an attack (Cobra) helicopter pilot and later a flight instructor. After 6 years of active duty, Ted continued serving his country as a Battalion Surgeon in the 35th Infantry National Guard. Major Theodore Rummel retired after 20 years of military service.
Following active duty, Ted attended and graduated from the University of Columbia Missouri. He continued his education, earning his medical degree from A.T. Still Osteopathic Medical School in Kirksville, Missouri. Ted practiced in the St. Charles area providing excellent orthopedic surgical care with his combination of knowledge, compassion, and skill. After becoming paralyzed in 2010, Ted was determined not to abandon the profession. Instead, he found a way to continue caring for patients and performing surgeries, a testament to his determination and commitment to others.
Ted is survived by his wife, Kathy, four children and seven grandchildren. He and Kathy shared a love of hiking, biking, skiing, traveling, and golfing with their amazing friends at the WingHaven Golf Course, where they have lived since 2001. Ted was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed.
In honor of Ted’s love for the outdoors, service to people and his military career, memorials may be made in Ted’s name to Camp Hope.
