He was preceded in death by his loving wife Wilhelmena of 46 years and his son Morris R. Overton, and his sister Caletta L. Hodges. He is survived by his sons Kevin B. Overton, Bryan K. Overton and his daughters Kristal C. (Darius) Lane, and Valencia Greer and Grandson Ranaldo Overston, Marcus J. Paddack, Taylor J. Anderson, Zachery Fritz, Javon Jones, Darius Adam Lane Jr. and granddaughters Amber Overton, Nikita Arnett, Logan B. Hawkins, Kierra Richardson, great grandson Ryan Overton, great granddaughter Raveighn Paddack, niece the late Cheryl A. Barker, and a host of cousins, his treasured in-laws James “Pete” Whitfield, Wilma Jackson, Wanda Odom, and Henrietta Whitfield, and some very special friends Jerome “OO” Eggleston, Walter “Slim” Johnson, Kenneth Armstead, Larry Fleming, Terrence and Elizbeth Speichinger, Gordon and Joanie Graynor, David Williams, and a very special little girl, goddaughter Pheadra Jackson.
He was a graduate of Elsberry High School class of 1960, He played basketball, baseball, and ran track. He was all conference, all district and second team all-state in basketball, during the 1959-1960 season. Taff proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service of 22 years. He played and coached backet ball while in the service. He coached basketball at the St. Charles County YMCA. He was a registered Missouri and Illinois state basketball official. His pride and joy was owning and training thoroughbred racehorses at Fairmount Park in Collinsville, IL. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved life.
Memorials may be made in Taff's name to Fairmount Park Racetrack.
