Susan Ann DuClos (née Heck), lovingly known as Sue, passed away February 27, 2026 at the age of 73.
Sue was born on December 30, 1952, to the late Barbara Heck (née Wiedemann) and the late Edgar Heck. She grew up surrounded by family, friendships, and the strong neighborhood ties she would cherish her entire life.
On May 7, 1976, she married the love of her life, Bernard DuClos, beginning a marriage that spanned nearly five decades and built a large and devoted family.
Sue was a proud and loving mother to Kevin (Kelly) DuClos, Angie DuClos, and Alison DuClos. Nothing brought her more joy than being “Grandma” to Davion Murphy, Destiny Murphy, Kaylin DuClos, Gavin DuClos, Madison Clark, Jillian Wagner, Linzee DuClos, Trever Wagner, and Ryleigh DuClos, and “Great-Grandma” to Avianna, Isabella, Tavian, Amora, Sevyn, and Anaila.
She is survived by her siblings Tim Heck; Jill (Harry) Hough; Paul (Kathy) Heck; Amy (Scott) Celeste; and Scott (Tracie) Heck; and was preceded in death by her brother Dale Heck. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Jack (Tarra) DuClos, Gene (Sue) DuClos, and Mark DuClos, and by her mother-in-law Carolyn DuClos (née Deutsch).
Sue was preceded in death by her grandparents of the Wiedemann and Schaefer families, her aunt Alice, her nephews Eric Heck and Joe Hough, and her father-in-law Clarence DuClos.
She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nephews, all of whom she adored.
Sue was truly a social butterfly who never met a stranger. She loved staying connected to her community and proudly served on the reunion committee for Riverview Gardens High School, helping classmates stay in touch across the years. She was deeply proud of her neighborhood, her roots, and the lifelong friendships she maintained.
Within her family, Sue was the keeper of traditions — the one who held the recipes, remembered the stories, and made sure everyone stayed connected. She was the matriarch people turned to for answers, guidance, and comfort. As many would say, “If Sue didn’t know, no one knew.”
Her warmth, humor, and deep love for family will be remembered always.
Let my work be my testimony.
Let my love be my legacy.
Let the people I leave behind
Speak of me with peace.
