Shirley E. Mercer, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Mercer; cherished daughter of the late Robert Hamilton, Sr. and the late Effie Maude Hamilton; devoted mother of Cheryl (Larry) Pearson, Dennis (Kathleen) Mercer and the late Sherry Eagle; loving grandmother of Kevin (Kim) Pearson, Patrick (Christine) Bloebaum, DJ (Kelsey) Mercer, Kelly (Eric) Desplinter, Angel (Ryan) Cook, Richard & Tim Eagle; treasured great-grandmother of Ethan, Emma, Chyler, Patrick Jr., Dennis, Riley, Mackenzie, Chase, Parker, Kinsley; Shirley is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Robert Hamilton, Edward Hamilton, Cora Jane Felte, Dorothy Boothe, Lucille Palmer;
Shirley was a proud union member of International Association of Machinist for over 45 years and was a materials handler for McDonnell Douglas. Shirley loved going to the family cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks and spending time outside, especially walking or taking trips with the St. Charles County Parks Department’s senior group. Shirley enjoyed her time at “The Boat” where she would play the dime slots. She loved having her grandkids visit during their summer breaks, cooking on holidays and most of all spending time with her family. Her family favorite of Turkey and Noodles will be forever missed.
Shirley was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
