Shirley Ann McVay Williams, age 81, of Louisiana, Mo passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Lynn’s Heritage House. Shirley was an assisted living resident for the last 18 months. She loved morning coffee with her friends, ice cream socials and Bingo! She also enjoyed spending her days playing games, making crafts and visiting with the friends she made there and with the amazing staff that loved her well and cared for her every need.
Mrs. Williams was born on November 26, 1944, in Atkins Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Hubert McVay and Etta Mae Baker McVay. Her lifetime sweetheart and loving husband Michael D. Williams passed on January 19, 2013. What a joyous reunion that must have been!
Shirley’s siblings Hubert McVay, Jimmy McVay, Jerry McVay, Mattie Ferguson, Hazel Buie and Melba Melton have also proceeded her in death.
Shirley is survived by her sister Donna Self of Independence, MO., Her son Thomas Keith Williams (Anne) and her daughter Darla Coomer. She is also the cherished Grandmother of Kevin Coomer (Kimberly), Kendall Huckstep (Jerod), Nicole Wilmes (Scott), and Kelly Hale (Jake). Shirley truly loved being a Great -Grandmother to Tucker, Alexandria, Jayce, Logan, Knox, Rosalie and Liliana. She leaves behind quite a legacy of love and memories for the family to hold dearly.
Shirley was a homemaker but did briefly join the workforce in her later years! She found that she loved being home and caring for her family. Shirley enjoyed being outside mowing, trimming hedges and trying her hand at growing beautiful flowers. She cherished time with family, friends and neighbors. For many years she and her neighbor friends bowled at Plaza Bowling with the team name, Plaza Wreckers. They were very good and have trophies and patches to honor that. She enjoyed loading up the family and neighbors and going on camping trips and fishing. She and Mike preferred trips to Lake of the Ozarks, Branson, and Florida but most of all being with family at home.
Shirley leaves behind two very special friends who she has known for 55 years. Cindy Lee and Vivian Haman. They spent many years together with their husbands and families while their sons played hockey and later years enjoying Sunday football games at each other’s homes. Shirley was an amazing mother and friend, she loved with her whole heart and could be counted on for prayers and to be there whenever needed. Shirley leaves us with memories of her sense of humor, fun, love and much laughter.
