Ruth Marie (Weingartner) Starr, age 97, of Saint Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026.

Known for her grace, generous spirit, warm smile and love of family; Ruth was a dedicated wife and mother, and a pillar of her community. Ruth and her husband, Robert, were devout Catholics whose faith guided their lives. They were active members of their parish community and their commitment to their faith was reflected in the way they raised their family and supported those around them.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Robert Parker Starr, a veteran of World War II. Also, by her sister, Alice (Milton) Kennedy, her sister-in-law, Joanne (David) Weingartner, her son, Fredrick, her daughter-in-law, Deborah (Richard), her daughter-in-law, Sherrie (Robert), her son-in-law, David (Peggy), her granddaughter, Renee (daughter of Patricia), and her granddaughter, Daniele (daughter of Richard).

Ruth is survived by her brother, David Weingartner, her children: Thomas (Leah) Starr, Jerome (Linda) Starr, Richard Starr, Robert Starr, Ascella (Donald) Schloss, Edward (Janet) Starr, Anthony (Christy) Starr, John (Betty) Starr, Patricia (Skip) Reinhert, and Peggy Mayfield; and former daughters-in-law, mothers to 7 grandchildren, Angela Biondo, Lisa Hickelmyer, and Cheryl Plunk.

Ruth was the cherished grandmother of 82 grandchildren. She is also survived by 76 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation followed by Mass celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2 Seton Ct., St. Charles, Missouri 63303. Date and time to be determined.

Luncheon at church after Mass.

A committal service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Date and time to be determined.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery’s Administrative Office or designated staging area 15 minutes prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meal on Wheels.
