Ruth “Louise” Burton, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the age of 89. Loving wife of 69 years to the late Richard “Dick” Burton, who preceded her in death on March 19, 2019. Beloved daughter of the late Harry and Estella Clemenz; devoted mother of Becky (Charlie) Ell and the late Rickey Burton; cherished grandmother of Jamie Hampshire and Joshua Hampshire; treasured great-grandmother of Amber, Megan, Andrew, Beverley and Hailey Hampshire; dear sister of the late Dorothy (Donald) Minary and Harold (Dorothy Ann) Clemenz, and sister-in-law of Anna Marie Clemenz.
Ruth was a member of St. John UCC on Fifth St. in St. Charles, and she volunteered as a greeter with her husband at the services. She worked for many years at The Famous, a ladies’ dress shop on Main Street in St. Charles until she retired. She and her husband were also members of the Goldwing Motorcycle Club, and they enjoyed going on roadtrips together. They also loved to travel all around the country and to various countries in Europe.
Ruth will be remembered and loved as a feisty lady. She looked forward to watching HGTV, the Food Channel, and cleaning the house. She enjoyed sewing, doing needlework, and making crafts. She also liked the outdoors and enjoyed going to the lake and camping with her family.
Ruth was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We truly believe she passed away from a broken heart. She missed Richard, the love of her life, so much and wanted to be with him. The strength and longevity of their relationship should be an example to everyone what marriage commitment is about.
