In the morning of April 24, 2009, Ruth Anne Walendy died peacefully at Mt. Carmel Senior Living, strengthened for her journey by the last rites of the Church and with her beloved husband of 68 years, Marlin F. Walendy, at her side. She was born Ruth Anne Kister in St. Charles on June 3, 1917. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Irene (Simon) Kister, her sisters Mary Kister, Alice Zimmermann (John), Irene Schroer (George), and her brother Dr. George Kister (Marie). In addition to her husband Marlin, Ruth Anne leaves behind her two sons, three daughters, and eleven grandchildren: Tom Walendy and his children, Tony Walendy, Anne Marie Ivan (Mike) and Sarah Walendy, John Walendy (Pat) and their children Chris Walendy and Matt Walendy, Mary Evans (Jim) and their children Jay Evans (Colleen) and Dawn Odean (Doug), Anne Davis (Kevin) and their children Kirsten Davis and Nathan Davis (Angela), and Martha Spital (Aaron) and their children Sam Spital and Andy Spital. Ruth Anne also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren. Ruth Anne's family was the great passion of her life, and she will be deeply missed by all. Ruth Anne was a lifelong resident of St. Charles, Missouri, with the exception of the 5 years she spent studying at Marysville College (BA) and Saint Louis University (MA in philosophy). She and Marlin also lived in Ohio for the first 4 years of their marriage when he was in the army and was stationed in Columbus. She was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo parish and a dedicated teacher of Latin, French, math and English at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in St. Charles. In her free time, she enjoyed nothing more than spending hours of joy and laughter with family and friends. Ruth Anne's family appreciates the loving care extended to her by the staff of Mt. Carmel Senior Living. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of Ruth Anne Walendy to St. Charles Borromeo parish or to the Academy of the Sacred Heart of St. Charles.
