Ruby Arlene (Scrivner) Brown, 88, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026. She was born on June 7, 1937, in Russellville, Missouri (Cole County) to Foster Scrivner and Ethel (Matheis) Scrivner.
Arlene was the oldest of four children and often served as the peacekeeper within the family, a role she carried out with quiet strength and kindness. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Scrivner (2019), and her sister, Pearlie Ann Holland (2021). She is survived by her sister, Doris Collier, along with extended family members and loved ones who will cherish her memory.
In 1942, Arlene moved with her family to the St. Louis area, where she attended Howard Grade School and later graduated from Central High School. Some of Arlene's fondest memories were made during summers spent at her grandparents' family farm in Russellville. Those days in the countryside left her with a lifelong appreciation for family, tradition, and simple joys.
After high school, Arlene began her career at Alco Valve Company, where she met the love of her life, Gerald (Jerry) Brown. The two were married on June 1, 1963, and shared a devoted marriage built on love, understanding, and partnership. Arlene and Jerry both dedicated over 40 years of service to Alco Valve Company.
Arlene and Jerry shared a love of traveling and enjoyed many trips together over the years, creating cherished memories along the way. Their adventures and time spent together were a special part of the life they built side by side.
Arlene will be remembered for her gentle spirit, infectious laugh, dedication to family, and the steady presence she provided to those who loved her. Her life was one of quiet strength, loyalty, and love.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Jerry, and the many family members who went before her.
Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
