Rosemary Grote

Rosemary Grote (nee Spurgeon), of St. Louis, MO, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late John William Grote; cherished daughter of the late Francis and Naomi Spurgeon. Devoted mother of Stephen Terry (Carol) Grote, Susan (The late Steve) Gail Blakeney, Gary Edward (Sherry) Grote, and Laura Ann (Todd) Iken; loving grandmother of Brian Grote, Renee Tosto, Kevin Reilly, Mandy Clemmer, Andy Grote, Ben Iken, and Mitch Iken; treasured great-grandmother of Brenden Tosto, Gavin Tosto, Carson Tosto, Annabelle Clemmer, Sadie Clemmer, Everleigh Clemmer, and Riley Grote.

Rosemary never met a stranger and lived her life full of kindness and love. She never said a bad word about anyone and always put others first. Rosemary loved to spend time with her family, discussing old stories, or the latest Blues or Cardinals games. In her free time, she enjoyed crafting and also playing the piano when she was younger.

Rosemary Grote spent ninety-three years being the best she could be. The best: daughter, girlfriend, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Those of us who love her feel blessed with every day she was with us. Mom, please give our love to dad and enjoy eternity with him. Hopefully someday we will join you. For now, we will continue to try to do our best. Your loving family. Rosemary was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
