Robert “Bob” L. Sherrid, of St. Charles, MO, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the remarkable age of 98.
Beloved husband of the late Betty Shirlene Sherrid, Bob was a devoted father to Carolyn (David) Bunch and Debra (Jim) Kastrup, and the late Roy (the late Melody) Sherrid. He was a proud grandfather of Michelle (Jim) Loseman, David A. Bunch, Chantel (Matt) Moore, Johnathan Bunch, Brandon Bunch, Aletha Tucker, Robert J. Sherrid, Carisa (Joe) Schieszer, Steve Bennett, and Diane (Josh) Smith. He was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren and shared a special companionship with his dear friend Jerri Jones.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lizzie Sherrid; his brothers, Clell and Ernest Sherrid; and his sister, Audrey Larrick.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Bob served honorably during the Korean War. He later dedicated 27 years of his career to McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) in the field of aircraft manufacturing and aerospace. His service and commitment were honored when he participated in the Greater Honor Flight of St. Louis in August 2014—a journey he cherished deeply.
Bob lived life with a strong spirit of adventure and a love for the outdoors. He and his family enjoyed countless camping and floating trips, especially at Meramec State Park, and he fulfilled a lifelong dream with an Alaskan cruise in 2017. He enjoyed traveling across the country by RV and often joined group bus tours. A skilled and hands-on man, Robert found joy in gardening, building, and creating.
Faith played a meaningful role in his life. He was a longtime member of Bogey Hills Baptist Church, where he shared his values and faith with his grandchildren by taking them to Sunday School in their early years.
Bob was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
