Sondag, Robert Joseph was received peacefully into the arms of Jesus on the beautiful afternoon of Monday, May 12th, surrounded by his family, after a brave and tenacious fight against cancer. Beloved husband for forty-six years of Mary Ann "Micki" Sondag, loving father of Mark R. (Lisa) Sondag, Michael T. (Melissa) Sondag, Lynn (Rinko) Sondag-Ghosh, Laura (Daniel) Sondag-Braun, Matthew R. (Kristine) Sondag. Son of Cyril and Theresa Sondag both deceased. Brother of Richard Sondag, Maryanne Hornecker and Thomas Sondag (deceased). Grandfather of Matthew P. Sondag, Gregory R. Sondag, Melinda B. Sondag, Nicholas R. Sondag, Rachael C. Sondag, Hannah D. Sondag, Linnea R. Braun, Aidan O. Braun and Calvin E. Braun, In addition to being a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, Robert was generous and compassionate to all. His favorite charities were the United Way, his local parish St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Joachim/St. Ann Food Bank. Some of his charitable activities included helping with his parish's hospital ministry and Sunday collection counting. Throughout his life, his loves and pastimes involved ensuring comfort and warmth at home. He was an expert griller or "grillologist", loved to chop wood and tend to the fireplace, took immaculate care of his yard, and was the architect of his log home near Mark Twain Lake. The twinkle in his eye and peaceful smile on his face was most evident in the company of family. Other personal loves include being outdoors, solving crossword puzzles, and listening to the rain, Beethoven, Mozart and Rossini (sometimes all at once). All who knew him, loved him, and he will always live in our hearts and minds.
