Robert Lee Fickert, of Ballwin, MO, passed away at Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living of natural causes on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on March 27th, 1941, to Christopher Franklin and Gertrude Evelyn Fickert (nee McBroom) in Neelyville, Missouri. He grew up an only child, often playing with his Cousins Frank Stanley & Ruby Horton (nee Stanley) while also helping the family trucking & farming business. He began farming at the age of 16, renting ground he would later buy. He attended college at Arkansas State and graduated with a degree in accounting in 1964.

Upon graduation he was drafted into the US Army, spending the bulk of his service working payroll at Fort Hood, Texas. After leaving the Army he began working for the McDonnell Aircraft Company in St. Louis, Missouri. The bulk of his career was spent at the McDonnell Douglas Electronics Systems Company in St. Charles, Missouri, and retired in 1996 after 30 years with the company.

In his retired years he enjoyed hopping on his Kubota tractor to bush hog, level ground, and doing other chores around the farm he once farmed as a kid. Robert was a devout family man and often enjoyed social gatherings and good conversation with his friends. The past five years he enjoyed spending time with his only grandchild, Emily, watching her slide down the slide over and over at the park. As a toddler, when she figured out how to call him with her dad’s cell phone, they’d have their "conversations" that he cherished deeply. He looked forward to her frequent after school visits where she would often bring him an afternoon donut from Dunkin.

Robert Fickert was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Fickert in 1999 and survived by his Son, Kirk Fickert, Daughter-in-Law Susan Fickert (nee Fox), and Granddaughter Emily Fickert of Manchester, Missouri.

Robert was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Robert's name to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
