Rita Vivian Ohmes

Rita Vivian Ohmes (nee Henry), of Moscow Mills, MO, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of Richard C. Ohmes; devoted daughter of the late Philomena and the late Leonard Henry; cherished daughter, Holly Ohmes; loving Oma to Emil Ohmes-Kelly; dear brother the late Michael Henry; dear sisters-in-law, Patricia Blasko and Judy Henry; dearest friend of Susan Mudd. She’s also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rita dedicated her career to serving others as a bus driver in education. She was a member of the Missouri and Illinois Archaeological Societies and was an active member of Assumption Parish in O’Fallon before later becoming a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Troy. Rita enjoyed arrowhead hunting, a special pastime she shared with her husband, as well as bowling, and she could often be found at O’Fallon Bowl. She enjoyed visiting the casino and was a skilled card player. Rita was a wonderful storyteller who loved sharing family stories and remembering all the little details. She had a quick wit, an amazing sense of humor, and was a natural caregiver who took great joy in caring for her family. She loved her grandson fiercely and was incredibly proud of him. Rita also enjoyed playing Bingo with a close group of friends and cherished the sisterhood she shared with those around her. In her younger years, she enjoyed riding motorcycles. She was also an avid bird watcher. Above all, Rita treasured her family and the time she spent making memories with them. Rita was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Rita's name to Masses at Assumption or the Cathedral Basilica.
