Rita Rosa Holzwarth

Rita Rosa Holzwarth (nee Herpich), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the age of 84. Beloved wife of Guenther Walter Holzwarth; cherished daughter of the late Lorenz and Rosa Herpich; devoted mother of Michael (Dorothy) Holzwarth and Robert (Stacey) Holzwarth; dear sister of Marianne Schenk, Elfriede Schenk, and the late Robert Herpich; loving grandmother of Ashley (Todd) Schaefer, Leah Holzwarth, Lauren Holzwarth, and Emily Holzwarth; treasured great grandmother of Korbin, Kennedy, Karson, and Krew Schaefer. Rita also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Rita, originally from Germany, immigrated to America at 19 and quickly established herself as a strong-willed and determined woman. In 1960, she married her husband, Gus, in Cincinnati, OH, and they later moved to the St. Charles area in 1965, where they raised their children. Rita assisted Gus in running their restaurants—Station Duquette and St. Charles Vintage House and Wine Garden—where her green thumb contributed to the garden's beauty. They enjoyed visiting wineries together, and Rita was known for her exceptional cooking. She worked at St. Joseph SSM in medical records for 35 years, loved her 30-year-old Honda Civic, and was highly skilled in handicrafts. Rita was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Rita's name to Shriners Hospital.
