Richard Edward “Dick” Entzeroth, of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Marguerite Entzeroth; cherished son of the late Elleard and Erma Entzeroth; devoted father of Eric (Teresa) Entzeroth and Greg (Pam) Entzeroth; loving grandfather of Elizabeth (Marc) Schlueter, Keith (Julie) Entzeroth, Sarah (Dan) Hartzke, Dan (Suz) Entzeroth, Timmy (Lauren) Entzeroth, Katelyn (Rivu) Entzeroth and Nicole Entzeroth; treasured great-grandfather of 22; dear brother of the late Robert Entzeroth.
Dick grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri and earned his bachelor’s degree in Horticulture from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1952. While at Mizzou, he was a member of the Army ROTC program and subsequently served 2 years in Germany and later in the Army Reserve Corp. Just prior to his deployment to Germany, he married the love of his life Marguerite, and she accompanied him to Europe and throughout life for the following 45 years until her death in 1997.
Dick loved sharing his plant expertise with family, friends and customers during his 50-year career in the greenhouse business, highlighted by his time with Hummert Seed in St Louis and then retiring from Ball Seed of Chicago in 1999-where he was affectionately known as “Dick from Ball Seed”.
Dick was extremely close with his 7 grandchildren and was totally focused on being the best Grandpa possible, always present for his grandkid’s important moments in school, sports and life. He loved fishing at Montauk, coin-collecting, baseball double-headers and a chocolate Frosty whenever possible.
He had a sharp sense of humor, a loving heart and always brought out the best in others.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Dick’s name to the ALS Association as a final tribute to “Sweetie-Reetie”, the love of his life.
