Richard E. Payne

Richard E. Payne, of Hazelwood, MO, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020 at the age of 79. Beloved son of the late Dorsey and Mary Payne; devoted father of Kelley (Doug) Baum, Kimberly Steinert, Richard (Dena) Payne, and Robert Payne; cherished grandfather of Philip, (Kasandra) Doner, Mallory (Matt Hammond) Doner, Ashley (Brandon) Rupp, Robert (Kate Sawica) Payne, Jr., Mary (Asa Wyatt) Payne, Natalie (Joe) Lanzi, Devin Payne, and Emily Watts; treasured great-grandfather of Jaycee, Philip Jr., Colton, Randall, Gavino, Gracelynn, Adaline, and Hailey; dear brother of Dolores Brown; and formerly married to Mary Berry.

Richard worked many years as a carpenter and retired from the Carpenters Union, later helping build sheds with his son among other projects. He enjoyed playing penny slots at the casino and eating at the casino buffet.  He was an avid coin collector who would save all his spare change to find that special wheat penny. After retiring, he enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and spending time with his family. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Richard's name to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Due to the Covid-19 recommendations the family will be unable to receive guests.  There will be a private memorial service for immediate family only held on Saturday, August 1st at Sunrise United Methodist Church.
