Richard A. “Dick” Hertensteiner

December 9, 1925 — August 9, 2013

Hertensteiner, Richard A. "Dick", of St. Charles, Missouri, died on Friday, August 9, 2013 at the age of 87. Loving husband of Mary Carol Hertensteiner; beloved son of the late Elmer Walter Theodore and Susan Pearl Marie Hertensteiner; devoted father of Robyn Pearl Hertensteiner, Cheryl Haines Politis, and Jennifer Lynn (Edward) Humphries; cherished grandfather of Errin Marie (David) Rother, Edward Richard Humphries, Timothy Michael Humphries, Nicholas Alexander Politis, Maria JoAnn Politis, and Christina Vlasia Politis; dear brother-in-law of Rogene Hertensteiner and Barbara MacLean. He is preceded in death by his two brothers Robert Elmer Hertensteiner and Donald Domminic Hertensteiner. He was a retired Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Dick was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church St. Charles, MO. During WWII he served in the 4th Marine Division in Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. During the Korean War he served in the 1st Marine Division. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #2866, Marine Corps League Detachment #725, the Devil Dogs, and the Sergeants Club. Dick was a founding member of the 4th Marine Division Association Chapter #29 and 1st Past President. He "Bleeds Green" for the Green Bay Packers, and was formerly known as "Coach" to the St. Charles Packer Backers. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Dick loved his family.
