Ralph Louis Blumer

October 21, 1939 — December 6, 2023

O'Fallon, Missouri

Ralph Blumer, beloved husband, father and long-time resident of O’Fallon, MO passed away on December 6th, 2023, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 84 years old. Ralph was born October 21, 1939, in St. Louis, MO to Pauline and Louis Blumer. He graduated from Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, MO and attended Westminster College in Fulton, MO. He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis and received his Master of Science in Information and Computer Science from Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, GA. He worked at Lockheed Martin in Marietta, GA in the CAD/CAM department (Computer-aided design/ Computer-aided manufacturing) where he helped design a small piece of the C5A cargo airplane. Ralph retired from McDonnell Douglas in St Louis after 30+ years of service and later worked for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) retiring from there after five years. One of his favorite things to do was to run, rain or shine. Even in the heat or cold and snow, he could be found running his usual six-mile course. In the winter, he would often come home with ice crystals in his mustache! He participated in various charity runs and ran several half marathons. He enjoyed cruising, traveling to new places, and seeing new things. Ralph’s dream was to own property in the woods so in 1996, he bought 103 acres of land near Salem, which was promptly dubbed Deer Run. At the time it was a forest with a few paths and one road. He built on that dream by adding two trailers, electricity, a well, deer food plots, and deer stands for hunting with his sons and friends. It was also a place to just enjoy the peaceful nature that God provided. Above all though, he loved his family! Ralph was a member of Dardenne Presbyterian Church in Dardenne Prairie. Ralph is survived by Sheila, his wife of almost 50 years and five children: Vicki, Chris, Kevin, Jeff, and Steve; seven grandchildren: Nathan, Kaitlyn, Tristin, Savannah, Brielle, Reese and Josie and two great grandchildren: Analise and Adriel. There will be a Memorial Service for Ralph on Thursday, January 4th at Dardenne Presbyterian Church, 7400 South Outer RD 364, Dardenne Prairie, MO 63368. Visitation with a slide presentation is at 10 am, followed by the Memorial Service at 11 am. Lunch will be provided afterwards in the church’s CLC.
