Philip Lee Serles, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday morning, June 22, 2025 at the age of 75. Loving husband of 51 years to Janet (GRETCHEN!) Serles; beloved son of the late John and Vera Serles; devoted father of Scott (Michelle) Serles and Jennifer (Kevin) Haynes; cherished grandfather of Will Serles, Addison Haynes, Wyatt Haynes, Jersey Ella Haynes, and of course Anthony and Andrew Pisciotta; and is survived by his beloved canine companion, Milli. Preceded in death by his brothers, John (Joyce) Serles, Joseph (Paula, survives) Serles, James (Harriet survives) Serles, and his nephew Jay Serles. Philip is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, brother and sister in-laws and friends.
Philip was dropped in the middle of the Vietnam jungle at the ripe age of 20 and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the conflict in ‘Nam. He later worked for over 30+ years in the aircraft industry as a machinist and Quality Control for McDonnell Douglas, Boeing, and GKN to provide for his family. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Philip was a true family man who always put his loved ones first. His grandchildren meant the world to him. He had a very sharp mind and was ahead of his time in terms of technology. He should also be remembered as cunning and nobody’s fool. Philip loved very fast cars (Mustang’s), loud motorcycles (Harley’s) and guns. He also enjoyed dabbling in the kitchen and every Christmas he made THEE BEST biscuits and gravy this side of South Carolina (seriously, no one made it better!). Philip was at times a simple yet complicated man, a dichotomy only he understood. He never followed, stayed true to he was to the very end and was a ‘rebel’ before the word became trendy. We will not remember Philip by how things ended on that early morning in June; he should be remembered by how all the people who loved him annoyed the hospital staff for a week by the 24/7 love and care that surrounded him and never (EVER!) left his side.
Memorials may be made in Philip’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
