Philip Wayne “P.O.” Edwards, 81, of St. Louis, MO passed away on June 30, 2025 after a warrior’s battle against cancer.
Wayne was born to Philander and Beatrice Edwards on October 27, 1943. After graduating Central High School in 1964, Wayne wed the love of his life, Nancy, before bravely serving the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
The dynamic duo kept the flame alive during that time by sending each other love letters and audio recordings. After returning home, Wayne worked as an estimator at Continental Fabricators.
The couple’s love deepened as they grew their family. Wayne is survived by Nancy (nee Weber) and their children Dawn (Greg) Libbert, Chris (Bill) Davis, and Terry (Becky) Edwards; grandchildren Josh, Cole, Jonah, Remi, Lainie, and Gus; and great-grandchild King; brother, Rick (Tami) Edwards brother and sister Phyllis (Ed) Norris; uncle to many nieces and nephews in which he loved very much.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna Edwards Miller.
In 2024, Wayne was selected for the Honor Flight, which takes veterans to visit memorials dedicated to their service in Washington, D.C. The experience provided healing and closure to an important chapter in his life.
Family and friends will remember Wayne for his grit (some might call it stubbornness), silly jokes, ability to fix anything, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Please join us celebrating Wayne’s long, love-filled life on Monday July 7, 2025, between 4 and 8 p.m. at Baue Funeral Home, 3950 W Clay St, St Charles, MO 63301. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Honor Flight Program https://www.honorflight.org
