Penny Ann O'Dell of Steedman, MO passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the age of 60. Born in O’Fallon, MO on October 8th, 1964, Penny was the beloved daughter of the late Leroy and Sharon O'Dell; dear sister of Bret (April) O'Dell and Lonnie (Toni) O'Dell; cherished niece of Wendy (Dave) Hollingsworth and Les (Lucy) Loriane, treasured aunt of Keegan O'Dell, Kiera Sanders, Melanie Bradshaw, Scott O'Dell, Joshua O'Dell, and Jaye O'Dell; Loving great aunt of 8, great-great aunt of 4, cousin, and friend to many. Penny was fiercely loved and will be missed immensely by her two brothers, Bret and Lonnie, as well as her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and good friends.
Penny spent most of her life in O'Fallon, MO. Her late father, Leroy O'Dell was a volunteer for the O'Fallon Fire Department. Penny was on the ladies auxiliary and thoroughly enjoyed being involved in any way possible with the department. Her parents owned property at Wildwood Lot Owner's Association in Steedman, MO and she spent countless weekends there growing up. That property later became her home and she loved the people, many who became like family to her. Her Aunt Wendy and Uncle Dave retired just around the corner from her and they were a pivotal part of her life there. She absolutely loved visits and traveling with her cousin, Sonya Wentzel-Meiste, from Michigan. She appreciated when any of her family or friends came to see her and especially when they came to help with the many projects she couldn't do on her own.
She recently was able to work again as a phlebotomist, which provided her joy and a sense of purpose. She was extremely well liked by so many of her co-workers. She loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and games, putting together puzzles, fishing with her nieces and nephews, and cuddling with her cat, Little Bits, who she doted on endlessly. Penny loved with everything she had. Her family and friends were her highest priority, and she made sure they knew that. While our hearts will never be the same without Penny, we can take comfort in knowing that she joins her parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles in heaven with love.
