Patricia Wegener

Patricia Ann Wegener, age 63, affectionately known as “Tris” throughout her life, passed away Friday, September 25, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her.

Tris was born September 7, 1963, in Crystal Falls, Michigan, to Frank and Margaret (Zeleznik) Groeneveld. She graduated from Lake Superior State College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and went on to serve as a dedicated ICU nurse for 41 years at Mercy Medical Center.

Tris was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary; and her son, Gregg Wegener. She is survived by her husband, Steve Wegener; her son, Kyle Wegener; her sister, Lisa Hurst; her nieces, Christina Duncan, Karissa Rian, Grace Hurst, and Leah Hurst; and her nephew, Grant Hurst.

Tris touched the lives of so many throughout her life. Through her dedication to the medical field, her contributions to the community, and the care she showed to those around her, she made a lasting impact and will be deeply missed. She was a devoted and loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend who consistently put those she cared about first. Tris was also known for her fun-loving spirit, generosity, compassion, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed it.

Above all, Tris will be remembered for the life she shared with her family and friends and the countless memories they created together. She loved spending time with family, helping friends and loved ones, traveling, hiking, taking walks with friends, visiting waterfalls and beaches, and enjoying the occasional glass of white wine.

Per Tris’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
