Norman Gaddy, 94, of St. Charles, Missouri, known to some as “Storman Norman”, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 24, 2025.
Born on July 27, 1930, in St. Louis, Missouri, Norman lived through a great deal of change and held firmly to the things that mattered to him. He proudly served two years in the United States Air Force before beginning a long and respected career as a foreman at McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing), where he worked until his retirement.
On March 31, 1956, Norman married the love of his life, LaVern, and they spent nearly 70 years together. Over the years, their family grew to include two daughters; Glenda (Don) Sullenger and Laura Wayer; grandchildren Timothy (Sara) Sullenger, Matthew Sullenger, Erin (Tim) Cobb, and Zachary (Brooke) Wayer. One of Norman’s greatest joys was being “PawPaw” to his great-grandchildren: Madelyn Cobb, Peyton Cobb, Theodore Sullenger, and Woodrow Wayer.
Norman was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Gaddy, in 2016. He was also preceded by his mother, Viola (Bernreuter) Gaddy (d. 1983) and his father, Harry Gaddy (d. 1966).
In his later years, Norman took an active interest in family genealogy, tracing names and stories through generations. He valued knowing where he came from and documenting that history for those who came after him.
He lived a life rooted in consistency and pragmatism. He didn’t say more than he needed to, and most things he did spoke for themselves. His legacy lives on in those that knew him and the stories he shared. He will be missed dearly and remembered always.
The family of Norman would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff at Breeze Park for the compassionate care and kindness you showed Norman during his time there. Your support, warmth, and professionalism brought comfort to him and to us in his final chapter. We are forever grateful for the dignity and respect with which you treated him, and for the community you provided that made Breeze Park a true home. Thank you for being there for Norman—and for us.
A service will be held in accordance with his wishes in the Chapel at Breeze Park, 600 Breeze Park Dr. St. Charles MO 63304, on June 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send a "thinking of you" card to LaVern Gaddy. A brief memory of Norman, a favorite story, or a few kind words of support would be especially appreciated during this time.
