Norbert L. Gawedzinski

Norbert Lewis Gawedzinski, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Barbara Gawedzinski; cherished son of the late Stanley and Lottie Gawedzinski; devoted father of Kevin (Dianne) Gawedzinski; loving grandfather of Natalie (Nicholas) Apelquist, Kyle Gawedzinski and Alison Gawedzinski; treasured great-grandfather of Rylan Apelquist and Ellis Apelquist; dear brother of Eleanor Gawedzinski, the late Stanley Gawedzinski, the late Raymond (surviving Karin) Gawedzinski, the late Larry Gawedzinski and the late Thomas Gawedzinski; Norbert is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.

Norbert was a Catholic deacon for 33 years, faithfully serving his church and community while balancing a devoted family life. He shared 62 wonderful years of marriage and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Norbert took pride in being a dad and grandpa, spending hours of quality time together as a family. Deeply involved in his parish, he ministered to countless people at the retirement center and served as a deacon at weddings, funerals, and baptisms, touching many lives through his compassion and faith. A true handyman, Norbert built a beloved clubhouse along the Meramec River, where he enjoyed fishing and floating at his cottage. Norbert was hardworking and readily available and willing to help his son, family and friends on numerous projects. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960, followed by four years in the Army Reserves. Norbert was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
