Neil Robert Hoffner, Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on May 26, 2026, at the age of 81.

Beloved husband of Carol Lee Hoffner; cherished son of the late Neil Hoffner, Sr. and the late Maxine (Ihns) Feuss of Clarence, Iowa; devoted father of Dr. Christine (Kenneth Jr.) Hoffner-Owens, Cindy (Dr. Christopher) Hoffner-Hoklas, Dr. Charmin (Dr. Ryan) Gans, and Neil Robert (Linh) Hoffner III; loving grandfather of Kenneth III (Bethany), Carolyn, Nathaniel, Abigail, James, Audriana, June, Scarlett, Natalynn, Neil IV, and Jocelynn; dear brother of Virginia Wendel, Gale Hoffner, Freida Bixler, and Paul Hoffner.

Neil proudly enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 18 and went on to serve his country honorably for 20 years, notably during the Vietnam War, retiring with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CWO2). A meticulous and detail-oriented man, he approached every part of life with dedication, integrity, and quiet strength. He earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and later retired from Boeing after a successful career.

Neil had a deep love for hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. A cowboy at heart, he found joy in nature and especially enjoyed feeding and caring for wildlife. Exceptionally intelligent and endlessly resourceful, Neil had a remarkable ability to understand, repair, and solve just about anything. Whether repairing something broken, solving a difficult problem, or helping others find answers, he was the person everyone turned to for guidance and support. His grandchildren affectionately referred to him as their “fix-it man.” He was known for his sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor, always quick with a clever remark or perfectly timed joke that brought laughter to those around him. He was kind, dependable, and responsible - someone family and friends could always count on.

Above all, Neil was a devoted husband, father, and family man. For 56 wonderful years, he shared a loving marriage with his wife, Carol, whom he cared for with unwavering devotion. He was a dedicated provider who worked hard to ensure his family always felt loved, supported, and cared for.

Neil Jr. was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial contributions may be made in Neil Jr's name to Ballwin VFW Post 6274.
