OBITUARY- In Loving Memory- Nancy Sue (Johnson) KNIGHT (86 years old).
Born November 29, 1939, In St. Louis, Missouri
Died May 30, 2026, In St. Charles, County, Missouri
Nancy died in Laurel Meadows Nursing Home of natural causes after a short illness.
Nancy was a very talented and resourceful person, having worked as a Receptionist and Keypunch Operator for multiple companies and working her way up to Office Manager overseeing and auditing Freight Invoices for Mallinckrodt Incorporated. After retiring Nancy went blind in both eyes but still managed to survive living on her own with occasional help from other good friends, as she referred to as; "The Village", as she fiercely wanted to retain her independence. Nancy had a particular love of sports including the St. Louis Cardinals, the St. Louis Blues, and loved to gamble, especially with the One Arm Bandits (Slot Machines), even though she was unable to see what she had won. She also had a specific love for good red wine.
Nancy was a dedicated Roman Catholic but did not attend Mass on a weekly basis later in life due to her being blind and her inability to see (Blind) and drive. She however continued to get take communion on a weekly basis due to a helpful eucharistic minister that came to her home routinely.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father (Floyd Marion Johnson), her mother, Mary Esther (Brown) Johnson, her brother, Ronald J. Johnson, her husband, Peter L. Knight Jr., her granddaughter, Josie Lynn Knight, and a very special friend, Reverand Leonard S. Misey.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Michele M. (Knight) Cain (Patrick), her grandson, Zeke Knight (Maria) Her great grandson, Kai Knight, granddaughter, Valerie E. (Cain) Miller (Brandon), grandson, Neal R. Siebert (Kristen), granddaughter, Gwen M. (Siebert) Charles (Christopher) two nephews, Robert S. and Stephen C. Johnson, and a great niece, Tanya (Johnson) Kanney (Eric). She is also survived by many great grandchildren.
In addition, "The Village" previously referred above, consists of six very special friends as follows: David Stewart, Barbara Uttley, Nancy Piper, Deb Patton, Michell Dupske, and Bryan Barklage. Without these individuals, Nancy wouldn’t have been able to survive independently on her own.
Nancy will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held on Monday, June 22nd at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1:00pm where her husband is buried, prior to her final interment with her husband.
