Mildred M. Halter (nee: Swagman), of St. Paul, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017, at the age of 83. Loving wife of 66 years to Charles E. Halter; beloved daughter of Lawrence and Eleanor Swagman; devoted mother of Carolyn (Anthony) Kovac, Jean (Don) Davis, and the late Glennon Halter; cherished grandmother of Kyle Davis, Alex Davis, the late Tony Charles Kovac, and the late Ashley Davis; dearest sister of Ruth (the late Frederick) Hallemeier, and the late Cletus Swagman; dear sister-in-law of Esther Swagman.
Mildred graduated from St. Charles High School in 1950, and married the love of her life, Charles. She retired from Monsanto after more than 24 years of employment. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church, and was a member of the Ladies Sodality. As one of the charter bus drivers for St. Paul Grade School, Mildred enjoyed driving the children through the beautiful countryside to start their day of learning. She loved sewing and making her own clothing, and getting “dolled up” was a highlight of her day. She was a wonderful cook, and made the best apple and cherry pies in the county. Mildred and Charles enjoyed many years of travel in their van, and looked forward to wintering in Naples, Florida every year. She also loved spending time in her flower gardens, and truly cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
