Michael Short of Lake Ozark, Missouri passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 31st, 2026 at the age of 65. Michael, a beloved father, son, husband, and friend, lived a life shaped by his deep devotion to his family and his generosity of spirit. He leaves behind his wife Kelly; his four children Kylle (Benjamin), Jonathan, Cassandra (Timothy), and Devin; his grandchildren Lelynd, Joleen, Simon, and Helena; and his mother Beverly, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Michael is preceded in death by his father Robert, his brother Dennis, and his sister Ronda, whom he now joins in rest.
Michael was the cornerstone of his family; he knew where everything was filed, who to call, and was the first person to go to when there was trouble. He doted on his grandchildren and was the center of his dog, Pink’s, universe. When Michael wasn’t spending time with his family, he could usually be found enjoying a good cup of coffee, playing poker, or striking up a conversation over a game of pool, always in his blue bib overalls. He could talk to anyone about anything and left new friends in his wake wherever he went.
In a final act of selflessness, Michael donated his liver after his passing, giving life and hope to a 68-year-old woman. This extraordinary gift reflects the compassion and kindness that defined his life. Michael’s legacy lives on through his children, his family, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A graveside service to celebrate his memory will be held February 20th, 2026 at 11:30 AM at Baue Cave Springs
