Michael Kohler

Michael Kohler of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on Sunday September 17, 2023. He was 86. That his parents, Ted and Pauline, gave him no middle name or initial was fitting; he had no taste for ornamentation, though he favored fine Italian shoes. Mike was a clear-eyed realist with a love for his family, the natural world, great literature and those less fortunate. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson School and Harvard College where his affection for languages prospered. He worked for many years in the garment industry and traveled widely in his endeavors, putting his foreign language skills to use. Among those surviving who loved him and whom he loved are his cherished wife, Marsha; daughters Amy and Rachel; sons Ron, David and Nick; his brothers Steve and Pete, and the many members of all their families who looked to Mike as a source of wisdom. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In his memory, contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association or the St. Louis Area Food Bank.
