Michael C. Alligood

Michael Curtis Alligood was born on May 4, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Forrest Douglass Alligood and Countess Mable Alligood. He grew up with his brother, Douglass Lacy Alligood, forming a lifelong bond marked by loyalty and quiet closeness.

Michael attended Soldan High School before beginning a career defined by discipline and dependability. He worked for 40 years at MMG Corporation, never missing a day or arriving late. For a short time, he was joined there by his grandson Jules Jr., a period he cherished deeply.

He married Josephine Bernetta Gilbert, raising two sons, Jules and Byron, who remained the center of his life. He welcomed Donnita into the family with warmth and pride. Michael lived with a steady, sincere faith that guided his humility and patience.

Outside of work, and through retirement, Michael enjoyed radio-controlled boats and cars, earning awards as a member of the St. Louis Admirals Boat Club. He also loved chess, football, and NASCAR. Chess became a friendly family rivalry, with Michael, Jules, and Byron holding matches and small tournaments for the title of Chess Champion. These traditions — building, racing, competing, and learning — connected four generations and created lasting memories.

Michael will be remembered for his quiet strength, unshakeable dependability, and the example he set through consistency rather than praise. He departed this life on July 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, humility, and love.

He is survived by his sons Jules and Byron, daughter-in-law Donnita, grandchildren Jules Jr., Jasmine, Maya, and Zhane, great-grandchildren Landon and Camilla, his brother Douglass, sister-in-law Linda, nieces Donna and Deborah, nephews Craig and Douglass Jr., Douglass Jr.’s wife Eva, their children Jordan and Leah, and Deborah’s daughters Andra and Angela.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his influence endures through the generations who carry his name and his example.
