Mergie Ann Wilson Adams, 83, of St. Charles, Missouri passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on December 18, 2025. She was born on February 21, 1941, to TR and Peggy Wilson in Columbus, Georgia and grew up in Beckley, West Virginia where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1960.
A talented thespian and musician, she attended West Virginia University on a Board of Governors scholarship for speech and drama and pledged to Delta Gamma sorority.
Mergie met Max Adams at West Virginia University where they briefly attended school together until her parents moved to Florida. They maintained a long-distance relationship and were married in July of 1963, enjoying 62 wonderful years together. She worked for several years to support Max while he completed his education and, after the birth of their daughter Julie, devoted herself fully to being a loving wife, supportive mother, and exceptional homemaker. A gifted cook and baker, she was also a gracious entertainer — you never left her home early or hungry.
She was an involved and devoted mother, volunteering extensively at her daughters’ schools. She worked in the library, helped secure passage of a bond Issue for the Francis Howell School District, and chaired the after-graduation party. She consistently encouraged her daughters to pursue excellence, advocating for them at every step. Family was the center of her life, and she created meaningful traditions that continue to be cherished.
She was an active and faithful member of First St. Charles United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir for more than 35 years, among many other contributions. Mergie also enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and traveling with Max, visiting more than 35 countries over the years. She was a trusted confidant and a loyal friend, known for her kindness, wisdom, tenacity, and pragmatic approach to life.
One of Mergie’s greatest joys was being a grandmother, especially with her grandchildren living nearby. She and Max cultivated close relationships with each of them, attending as many activities and events as possible and hosting frequent overnight visits that created lasting memories.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Max Adams; daughters Julie (Dale) Huber and Christy Morgan; grandchildren Paige (John) McCaffrey, Jared Huber, Joe Huber, Brooke (Matthew) Hoff, Trevor Morgan, Drew Morgan, and Alvira Nishat; great-grandson Max McCaffrey; and Benjamin Hoff, expected to arrive in March.
She is also survived by her brothers Thomas (Vickie) Wilson III, James Wilson, and Mason (Sandy) Wilson and her sister-in-law Jacqueline Carpenter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mergie’s memory to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
