Maureen "Reenie" Gaunt

November 15, 1947 — June 28, 2025

St. Charles, Missouri

Maureen “Reenie” Cecelia Gaunt, 77, of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away on June 28, 2025 surrounded by her loving husband.

Born on November 15, 1947, to the late Mildred and Albert DeMar, Reenie grew up with a deep appreciation for family, faith, and the beauty of the world around her. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Germaine Ross, and is survived by her brother, John DeMar.

On August 25, 1965, Reenie married the love of her life, Craig Gaunt. Together they built a marriage rooted in devotion and unwavering partnership, approaching their 60th wedding anniversary in August.

Above all else, Reenie treasured her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters, Wendy Lawrence (John) and Ginger Mullins (Robert), and her cherished grandchildren—Anne-Marie LeVan and Craig and Julia Mullins—who brought endless joy to her life.

Reenie was vivacious, witty, and the kind of mother and friend everyone wished they had. A woman of deep Catholic faith, she found joy and strength in her spiritual life. A survivor in every sense, Reenie was a lung cancer survivor and lived with heart failure for many years, facing every hardship with remarkable grace and resilience

Her passions were as vibrant as her spirit. An avid birder, Reenie found daily joy in the simple beauty of the birds that visited her feeders—especially the bluebirds, her favorite, which they lovingly fed and watched each day. She was a master flower gardener who could name and nurture any plant. A lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, Reenie never missed a game and cheered passionately for her team. She was also a devoted student of history, endlessly curious about the past and its stories.

Her legacy is one of love—love for her husband, her family, her faith, and the wonders of the world. She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her laughter, her wisdom, and her fierce, unconditional love in their hearts.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Reenie on Wednesday, July 9 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cottleville, MO. A luncheon will follow in the South Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society in Reenie honor.
