Mathias J. Telkamp

Mathias J. Telkamp, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Edith A. Telkamp; cherished son of the late Mathias and Irene Telkamp. Devoted father of Cynthia (Ed) Kern, Jr., Peggy (the late Dallas) Mayfield, Rebecca (Warren) Clark, David A. Telkamp, Aaron L. (Janice Massey (significant other)) Telkamp, Shawn Telkamp, and the late Mathias K. (Anita) Telkamp; many grandkids and great grandkids; survived by three sisters.  

Mat was raised in Golden Eagle, IL with his siblings. He left to go into the Army, however, after an injury during basic training, he returned home to work on the farm. His main passion was building and it was the center of every profession he ventured into - from working road crew at the start of Interstate 70 in St. Charles to the construction of many subdivisions and custom homes in and around St Charles County - in a career spanning 50 years as the owner of Telkamp Construction. Another passion of Mat's was music and  he was a multi-instrumentalist: strings, keys, pedals, air - if it made sound, he'd dedicate himself to learning it. Mat and Edith enjoyed listening to music as much as making it. With Edith by his side, he traveled the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Mat loved his family. He will be greatly missed.
