Mary Joan Poole

Mary Joan (Springer) Poole, 64, died Friday, January 3, 2025, at her home. Born January 23,1960, in Alton, Illinois. She was the daughter of Donald L. Springer Sr. and Angela M. (Springman) Springer. She married William E. Poole on March 23, 1983, in St. Louis, MO.

She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother (Nana). Her kids and grandkids were her life, the grandkids refer to sleepovers at Nana’s house as going to “Club Nana” where they spent endless hours having family fun time. Mary Joan worked in the human resources department at Kirkwood School District for twelve years until she became permanently disabled due to complications from diabetes and congestive heart failure. She was an eight-year kidney transplant survivor at the time of her death.

Along with her husband she is survived by two sons, Raymond G. Poole of O’Fallon, MO, Ryan J. Poole of O’Fallon, MO, four grandchildren, Mia N. Poole, Averi J. Poole, Myles W. Poole, and Roman G. Poole all of O’Fallon, MO. Along with five siblings, Janet M. (Springer) Neustadt (Melvin (II)) of West Alton, MO, Donald L. Springer Jr. (Janet), of Godfrey, IL, Mary Jane (Springer) Leonhard (Mark) of St. Charles, MO, Jeanne M. (Springer) Theissen (Chris) of Hermann, MO, John R. Springer (Craig) of Wentzville, MO, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Angela M. Springer and a nephew Kevin Leonhard.

A celebration of life will take place in Spring 2025.
