Mary E. Ludwig

Mary E. Ludwig (nee Stretch), of Warrenton, MO, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the age of 71. Beloved wife of Robert A. Ludwig for 48 years, cherished daughter of the late John and Dorothy Stretch; devoted mother of Michelle (Mark) Bowers and Robert "Bobby" (Jennifer) Ludwig; loving grandmother of Matthew, Maxwell, Adelynn, Braxton, Justin and Kristen; dear sister of Mike (Andrea) Stretch, Pat (The late Terry) Mykins, and Kathy (Donald) Franke; Aunt, Cousin and Friend to many.

Mary was a long-term resident of Lake Sherwood, who cherished the community she called home and a proud graduate of Grover Cleveland High School. She grew up in a Catholic Community in South St. Louis. As a kid she loved to visit the local convenience store for penny candy. She loved playing with the neighborhood children. Her family would often visit the neighborhood pub, that was more of an extension of her family.

She spent most of her career as the deli/catering manager at Droege’s Grocery store in Washington, Missouri. She was well known in the downtown community for the lunch specials. Then she continued on as the Pricing/Signing Supervisor at JCPenny in Dardenne Prairie, Missouri. She always had a smile on her face. She was a devout mother to her own, but the neighborhood children as well. She always had the pantry stocked for the revolving kids that entered the house. During her spare time, she loved crafting of all kinds, crocheting, scrapbooking, ceramics, and countless little projects. Mary especially enjoyed the holidays, often celebrating with her beloved holiday cookies. Above all, Mary treasured time with her family and had a deeply caring spirit, always ready to help others. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Mary's name to Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Parkinson's Foundation.
