Mary Ann Henke

Fortified by the Sacraments of the Church, Mary Ann Henke (nee Goeke), 81, of Winfield, MO, passed away on September 17, 2023. She was born to Bernard and Anna Marie (Haarmann) Goeke on November 3, 1941, in St. Louis, MO. The first of fifteen children, Mary Ann grew up supporting her brothers and sisters even though it meant she had to forego a high school education. In 1965, she married Edward Henke. They created a home and began raising five children, first in Hazelwood and, four years later, on a small farm in Winfield, MO. As their children grew, Mary Ann obtained her GED and worked at Immaculate Conception grade school as a cook, providing school lunches for the students. Mary Ann was a life-long Cardinals fan which she passed on to her children but, above all, her ultimate focus was her family and her faith, doing her best to ensure they knew they were loved, and that they stayed close to Jesus. 

She is preceded in eternity by her husband Edward and their son Kenneth Henke, her parents Bernard and Anna Marie (Haarmann) Goeke, and her siblings Ken (Sandy) Goeke, Don (Sandi) Goeke, Bern (Jill) Goeke, Kevin Goeke, and Patricia Goeke. 

Mary Ann is survived by four children, Fr. Don Henke, Gary (Andrea) Henke, Jim (Brigid) Henke and Karen (Peter) Nicholl, thirteen grandchildren Mikaela (Stephen) Meyer, Abigail, Joseph, Jack (Lydia), Emma, Luke, Andrew, Danny, Mary Kate, Margaret, Grace, Peter, Sean, and great grandson, Bennett Meyer, as well as siblings Tom (Elsie) Goeke, Maureen (John) Kramer, Mike (the late Nancy) Goeke, JoAnne (the late Mike) Miller, Dennis (Mary) Goeke, Rich (Karen) Goeke, Gerilyn (Ron) Kloppenburg, Greg (Peggy) Goeke, and Ed (Toni) Goeke.
