Mary “Elaine” Johnson (nee Yinger), of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the age of 95. Loving wife of the late Leonard, Jim, and George and companion to Norman; beloved daughter of the late Raymond R. and Myrtle Yinger; mother of Shirley Hellman; mother-in-law of Al (Crystal) Chatmon and Janis Miller; cherished grandmother of Janet (Chawn) Stich, Carol (Al) Brown, Michele (Terry) Tillotson, Amy (Nathan) Barnhart, Tom Hardt, Leslie (Aaron) Martinez, Zachary Miller, many great and great-great grandchildren; aunt, cousin and friend. Elaine is also preceded in death by her children, Joyce Chatmon and Leonard Miller; her brothers, Bill Yinger, Raymond "Bud" Yinger, and her sister, Dorothy Willis.

Elaine served as a Nurse's Aide at BJC Hospital for over 20 years. She was very kind and volunteered at her church through the MOPS program. Elaine enjoyed decorating her home. Always dressed for the occasion, Elaine had a particular fondness for holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. She cherished time spent with her family and always looked forward to hosting events. Elaine liked to dance and was known as the “Hokey Pokey” grandma, always bringing a smile to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren’s faces. She loved to showcase her grandchildren, bringing them to church. Known for her selflessness and putting others first, Elaine was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
